Last Sunday ZumieZ Skatepark hosted the Finals of the Best of the West Skateboarding Cup!

Goddamn it was a blast! For all those who missed the finals… haha!
All skaters were killin’ it and giving it their best to get a part of the huge prize money.

Michel Verstraete took first place in the non-sponsored category earning himself a 1-year free entrance ticket to Zumiez Skatepark, a bunch of new Jart decks, some Globe & Carhartt gear and of course the crown of 1 year for being the Best of the West non-sponsored skateboarder.

Fries Taillieu had to shake off all the women’s attention this Sunday and took it to the max during his final runs, earning him the well deserved allround victory of the Best of the West Cup in the sponsored category. As the hero of the day he smiled and cashed with great pleasure the 750 euro (!) prizemoney!

Christian “Muze” Plettner nailed 2nd place and took 500 euro back the sea, Fabian Verhaeghe let the beast go and was the highest non-qualified finalist of this year’s cup ending in a well deserved 3rd spot and tsjing tsjing taking home 250 euro!  Finally a big shout-out to the runners up on 4th and 5th place, Mohamed Saouti and PieterJan Claeys, they both accepted the 100 euro with a big smile!

Finally we @ Woodmag would like to thank all the spectators for showing up so numerous every Sunday, the people behind the BOTW circus, Youth services, the different cities, Rampaffairz for building the parks like crazy woodpeckers, the sponsors and of course all the skateboarders! Skate on!
